Liquid fraction · dry-fractionated from Shorea robusta
The liquid fraction of our sal butter. A volume-priced, high-oleic emollient — the practical alternative to olive or sunflower oil in cold-process soap bases and industrial cosmetic systems.
Sal olein is what fractionation yields when we chase a harder stearin. It is not a premium product — it is a practical one. For soap makers who want an Indian-origin alternative to imported olive oil, it is almost exactly the right ingredient.
Oleic content sits at 55 to 65 percent. Iodine value rises above 60. The lipid stays liquid at 22°C and carries a 12-month shelf life with BHT or tocopherol addition.
Industrial buyers use it in soap bases, textile lubricants, and bio-lubricant blends. Cosmetic formulators reach for it when they need a volume-priced emollient that carries a cleaner origin story than palm or soy.
The honest liquid. Priced for volume, built for soap.

Applications where this lipid is generally used, drawn from published formulation practice.
Replaces olive oil at 1:1 with cleaner Indian-origin story.
Volume-priced for private-label manufacturers.
5 to 15 percent inclusion; non-greasy afterfeel.
Heritage industrial application; conditioning without residue.
Viable base for specialty greases and lubricating oils.
Entry-level natural origin at a defensible price point.
Replaces olive and sunflower oil at 1:1 in most saponified systems. Not a direct argan or jojoba substitute — the polar fraction is wrong. Pair with sal stearin for a complete refined system.
Every specification on this page is a published typical value for the botanical species, compiled from supplier technical data sheets and the peer-reviewed literature. Real ranges shift with origin, season, kernel quality and refining route: treat these as indicative, and always specify against your supplier’s own CoA.
